He was predeceased by: his parents, Leo M. Barton and Rita Mae Barton (Klein); his in-laws, Art and Clara Jaeger; his brothers-in-law, Duane "DJ" Jaeger, Keith Hayes and Dick Woolf; and his nephew Chris Woolf.
He is survived by: his wife Mary Ann Barton of Asbury; his children, Ryan Barton of Des Moines, IA and Renee Hermsen (Adam) of Marion, IA; his grandchildren, Hudson and Lyvia Hermsen; his siblings, Donna Hayes of Rockford, IL, Vicky Smith (Vince) of Peosta, IA, Randy "Haney" Barton (Marian) of Holy Cross, IA, Rick Barton (Julie) of Dubuque and Dawn Barton of Cedar Rapids, IA; and his siblings-in-law, Carol Woolf, Gary Jaeger (Shari), Donna Erceg (Tim), Randy Jaeger (Susi), Dale Jaeger (Ellie) and Al Jaeger (Lynn). He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Monday, October 19th 2026 from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Church of the Resurrection (4300 Asbury Rd, Dubuque, IA 52002). A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 20th 2026 at 10:30 AM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to NAMI, Church of the Resurrection, or to American Cancer Society for pancreatic cancer research.
