He was predeceased by: his father Donald Blong. He is survived by: his mother Shirl Blong (Hittenmiller); his wife Lori Blong of Mary's Catholic Church; and his children, Ashley Klein (Josh), Zach Blong (Cierra) and Brooklyn Jansen (Tyler). He is also survived by 14 Grandchildren; three brothers; and four sisters.

Visitation was held on Monday, December 1st 2025 from 3:00 PM to 6:30 PM at the Leonard Funeral Home & Crematory (2595 Rockdale Rd, Dubuque, IA 52003). The military honors was held on Monday, December 1st 2025 at 6:30 PM at the America Legion Post #6.
