He was predeceased by: his parents, Leo "Buck" Gross and Virginia Gross (Cigrand); and his father-in-law R. W. "Bill" Staebell. He is survived by: his brother Dave; his wife Debbie; his daughters, Kate Lange (Tommy) and Megan Berns (Michael); his grandchildren, Addie, Jack, Will Lange, Matthew and Maria Berns; and his sister Barb Gross (Kate Ridge). He is also survived by many sister and brother-in-laws, nieces, and nephews, cousins, and beloved friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorials will go to support the National Mississippi River Museum and Aquarium, Hospice of Dubuque, and Saint Anthony Church.
