He was predeceased by: his parents, Earl W. Hiatt and Esther G. Hiatt (Schauff); his brother William "Bill" Hiatt; his father-in-law Francis Apel; and his brother-in-law Kevin Apel.
He is survived by: his wife Carla Hiatt (Apel); his children, Lisa LeConte of DeWitt, Jennifer Graham (Bill) of Chicago, Jeffrey Hiatt (Cassie) of Asbury and Kurtis Hiatt (Danny Schmidt) of Haddonfield, N. J.; his grandchildren, Clara, Anna, William, Miles, Mila, Theo and Esther; his brothers, Dan "Boots" Hiatt, Steve "Moose" Hiatt (Pam) and Dave "Cricky" Hiatt (Judy); his mother-in-law Norma Apel; and his brothers-in-law, Francis Apel (Judy), Jeff Apel (Cindy) and Steve Apel (Pernilla). He is also survived by many cousins, nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Dubuque Rescue Mission, where Tom volunteered for many years, by mailing a check to P.O. Box 147, Dubuque, IA 52004, in care of Jeff Lenhart.
