He was predeceased by: his parents, Earl Mitchley and Josephine Mitchley (Wenzel); and his sister Diane Beatty (Jack). He is survived by: his wife Patricia Mitchley (Brandt) of Asbury; his daughters, Tricia Loso of Dubuque, Lori Chapman (Mark) of Gilbert, AZ, Karie Yenter (Doug) of Evergreen, CO and Jolene Memarian (Shawn) of Kansas City, MO; his stepdaughters, Jennifer Bales (Brian) of Dubuque and Danielle Walsh (Matt) of Dubuque; and his sister-in-law Rita Hartung (Bob). He is also survived by 12 grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Veterans Freedom Center.
