He was predeceased by: his parents, Hersel Butler and Louise Butler (Hiller); his wife Joyce Boettger; his sister Joann Creese; his parents-in-law, Arthur and Edaline Boettger; and his brothers-in-law, Arlen Gierstorf, Ramon Williams and Laverne Creese.
He is survived by: his children, Kris (Jared Anastasi) of Manilla and Andy Butler (Kalin) of Arion, Iowa; his grandchildren, Zoey, Damien Bissen of Minot, Kinze Anastasi, Heidi Anastasi, Kai Butler, Max Butler, Ali Butler and Ashton Butler; his sister Myra Williams of Denison, Iowa; his siblings-in-law, Jerry, Patti Boettger of Denison, JoAnn, Fred Renze of Ida Grove and Janice Gierstorf of Denison; and his friend Bill Brasel of Anthon. He is also survived by many other relatives and friends.
