He was predeceased by: his parents, Roger Schlensig and Wilma Schlensig. He is survived by: his wife Lucille Carter of Shelby, Iowa; his stepdaughter Heather Bucklin of Newton, Iowa; his sister Linda Hicks (Ken) of Dunlap; his siblings-in-law, Tammie Lahart (Bernard) of Burlington, Sally Carter (Joe) of Russell, Iowa, Duke Carter (Terri) of Melrose, Clay Carter of Albia, Jeff Carter of Des Moines and Timothy Carter (Julie) of Hiteman, Iowa; his close friends, Shane Havick and Bill Knudson; and his adoptive son Kyle Boettger. He is also survived by three step-grandchildren; one step great granddaughter.
