He is survived by: his fiancée Joan Lindsay of Durango; his fiancée's sons, Evan and Nick Lindsay; his siblings, Pam Smothers of Dubuque, Steve Brandel (Donna) of Dubuque and Kim Knutson of Dubuque; his nieces and nephews, David Henkels (Mickie), Dan Henkels (Sarah), Mandy DeMuth (Dave), Katie, Jen, Jess Knutson and Kyle Knutson (Megan); his close friends, Buddy, Zeke and Cooper; his caregivers, Audrey and Emily; Bella and Brandtley. He is also survived by 11 great-nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, October 4th 2026 from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Riverfront Pavilion at Eagle Point Park (2601 Shiras Ave, Dubuque, IA 52001).
