He was predeceased by: his parents, Raymond Bartels and Mary Bartels (Lex); his brother Robert Bartels; and his brothers-in-law, Emil Barth and Joseph Tekippe.
He is survived by: his wife Cathy Bartels of Durango; his children, Karen Bartels (Pat Long) of Yucca Valley, CA, Kim Bartels (Eric Bargman) of Minneapolis, MN, Dale Bartels of Durango, David Bartels (Kori) of Verona, WI and Marilynn Bartels (Ryan Less) of Davenport, IA; his granddaughters, Elise, Claire Bargman, Celia, Raelyn and Carly Bartels; his sisters, Janet Tekippe of Sherrill and Maureen Barth of Rickardsville; and his sister-in-law Cindy Bartels of Dubuque.
Visitation was held on Sunday, August 30th 2026 from 2:00 PM to 7:00 PM and on Monday, August 31st 2026 from 8:30 AM to 9:15 AM at the Egelhof, Siegert & Casper Funeral Home (2659 John F Kennedy Rd, Dubuque, IA 52002).
