We bid farewell to Howard Rettenmeier of Dyersville, Iowa, whose journey of life gracefully concluded on June 19, 2025 at the age of 93. Howard touched countless lives with warmth and kindness, leaving behind cherished memories that will forever echo in hearts. He was predeceased by: his parents, Fred Rettenmeier and Alvina Rettenmeier (Meyer); his wife Shirley Ries; his daughter Beverly Geltz (Darrel); his granddaughters, Staci and Amy Rettenmeier (Dale); his siblings, Jeanette Slattery and Earl Rettenmeier; and his in-laws, Gus Slattery, James Habel, Lyle Link, Kay Ries and Thomas Habel.
He is survived by: his children, Dean of Cedar Rapids, IA, Dale (Debi) of Hiawatha, IA, Donald (Pattie) of Sussex, WI and David (Tara) of Quincy, IL; his sisters, Mert Habel (James) and Elaine Link (Lyle); his sister-in-law Marlene Rettenmeier; and his grandchildren, Jason Geltz, Pamela Geltz, Brett Rettenmeier, Ben Rettenmeier, Stephanie Rettenmeier, Brittany Rettenmeier, Austin Rettenmeier, Alec Rettenmeier, Reese Rettenmeier and Riley Rettenmeier. He is also survived by 12 great-grandchildren.
Memorials in his memory can be made to Beckman Catholic High School and St. Francis Xavier Parish.
