He was predeceased by : his parents, Norbert Kirsch and Mary Catherine Kirsch (Losey); his wife Elaine Althoff; his parents-in-law, Frank and Vivian Althoff; his in-laws, Doris Kirsch, Virginia Dzaboff, Charles, Geraldine Althoff, Clarence Althoff, Ed and Mary Ann Althoff; and his nephew Ted Althoff.

He is survived by : his son Scott Kirsch (Tammy) of Anamosa, IA; his son-in-law Carl Greenwood of Epworth; his grandchildren, Tyler Johnson (Jena), Dylan Johnson, Ryan, Elliot, Evan and Owen Gaul; his stepgrandchildren, Alex and Kaleob; his great grandchild Leighton Johnson; his siblings, Mike Kirsch (Lucy) of Dubuque, Pat Haigh (Dick) of Dubuque, Karen Koppes (Dave) of Dubuque, Jan Singsank (Jim) of Dyersville, Sharon Downing (Mike) of Dubuque and Ray Kirsch (Jenny) of Dyersville; his in-laws, Geri Kintzle (Frank), Cathy Graham (Jack), Margie Althoff and Ron Dzaboff; and his close friend Sandy Clouse. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
