He was predeceased by: his parents, Gilbert Joseph and Valeria Elizabeth Platz (Griener); his sister Darlene Hoffman; his parents-in-law, Jerry, Ethel Pins and Dwight Schoening; his sister-in-law Carol Platz (Langel); his nephew Ryan Platz; Dr. Donald Luettjohann.
He is survived by: his wife Rose Ann "Rosie" Platz; his children, Amy Budan (Mike), Brian Platz (Brenda), Kevin Platz (Erin Swailes), Molly Dunne (Chad) and Dr. Timothy Platz (Amber); and his siblings, Carol Wessels (Chuck), Dan Platz (June), Sandy Schoening, Charlie Platz, Jane Sullivan (Bill), Dale Platz (Sue) and Susie Helle (Brad). He is also survived by 11 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
