He was predeceased by: his parents, Garland Cook and Louise Cook (Ramsey); his in-laws, Leon and Orpha Thompson; his siblings, LaVerne and Linda Schmidt; his grandson Joshua Cook; and his great grandchild Audrey Nuzum.
He is survived by: his children, Patrick LaVere (RayeDeLynne) of Winterset and Amanda Francine of Winterset; his wife Janice Thompson; his daughters, Shellie Cook Petek of Winterset and Kellie Oberhaus (Charlie) of Alexis, IL; his grandchildren, Greg Cook (Stacy), Tiffanie Wetzel (Brian), Trenton Nuzum, Clenton Nuzum, Benjamin Nuzum, Sarah Ball, Cheryl Oberhaus, David Oberhaus, Lacey Heinz (Joshua), Daphne Strief (Josh) and Josephine Baumgartner; his great grandchildren, Emma, Sydney Greyson, Abigail (Brett), Vivian, Maxwell, Lucy, Libby, Claire, Jill, Jared, Jesse, Skyler, Gavin, Lucus, Natalie, Michael, Charles, Daniel, Garrett, Asher, Elliott, Henry, Josiah, Delilah and Athena; and his great great grandchildren, Estella and Hudson.
A celebration of life was held on Thursday, September 10th 2026 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at 1146 W Summit St, Winterset, IA 50273.
