He was predeceased by : his brother Kendall Fligg. He is survived by : his wife Sandy Fligg of Eldon, IA; his children, Felicia Richardson (Brian) of Cedar Rapids, IA, Jayme Fligg (Margarette) of Chariton, IA and Kyle Fligg (Melissa) of Mars Hill, IA; his grandchildren, Kylynne Robinson-Kruse (Josh), Crystal Desmond, Bradley Fligg (Alisha), Kyle McCarroll, Alan Fligg (Kylie) and Zachary Fligg (Lincoln); his great grandchildren, Mykah, Jaedyn, Loriya, Emery, Ensley, Brooklyn, Carissa, Kensley, Quinton and Adelyn; and his sister Michele Fligg. He is also survived by his family and his many friends.

Robert Axley wrote a sympathy message

“Hello Sandy and family, I just came across the name of an old friend and coworker, Jim. He was the Best Railroad Engineer I have known in my life. He taught me from scratch as a brakeman all the way to getting my Engineer Lisc. I have a lot of great memories to cherish with Jim. I’m so sad to hear of his passing.
