He was predeceased by : his parents, Otto Oberbreckling and Alvina Oberbreckling (Timmber); and his siblings, Jerome, Art, Ron, Mark and Delrose Phelps.

He is survived by : his wife Joanne Fahrenkrog (Mess) of Eldridge; his daughters, Tamie Oberbreckling-Unash (Tommy Bruner) of Ely and Teresa Oberbreckling-Hyde (Ed Van Amburg) of Mechanicsville, Iowa; his grandchildren, Jonathon Jordan, Chuck Steggall (Alex Marin), Nick Steggall (Katie Neuzil) and Ryan Unash (Michael Werner); his great grandchild Trinity Jordan; his siblings, Madonna Gustavesen of Cedar Rapids, Marge Wolfe (Rich) of Ryan, Iowa, Tom Oberbreckling (Lana) of Onslow, Herb Oberbreckling (Kate) of Morley, Daniel Oberbreckling of Coggon, Charles Oberbreckling of Walker, Luke Oberbreckling (Mary) of Mechanicsville and Randy Oberbreckling of Ryan, Iowa; his sister-in-law Jean Oberbreckling of Wyoming, Iowa; his stepdaughters, Eileen Gevers (Todd Friederichs) of Dixon, Lisa Holst (Chris Rymars) of Davenport and Sheryl Geerts (Jeff) of Johnston, Iowa; his stepgrandchildren, Ashley Bramblett (Laurence), Sarah Rymars (Joseph), Kyle Geerts and Kayla Geerts; and his stepgreat-grandchildren, Emmett, Eleanor and Emelia Bramblett.
