He was predeceased by : his parents, Clifford Nixon and Joy Nixon (Longe); his wife Judy; his nephew Karl Slagle; and his niece Ellen Slagle Christie.

He is survived by : his former life partner Connie Langford; his children, Dave Nixon, Jr. (Becky Griffin) of Wellman, Rick Nixon and Leslee Maddy-Nixon; the mother of his children Connie Nixon; his granddaughters, Samantha Nixon, Logan Davis, Jade Davis and Briyana Maddy; his siblings, Sylvia "Tibie" Stinger, Judy Barker (Lloyd) and Bill Nixon (Donna) of Springfield; his sister-in-law Maryanne Slagle (Charles); and his nieces, Susan Boyd (Cary) and Peggy Slagle.
