She was predeceased by: her parents, Milo Starnes and Grace Starnes (Baker); her husband David Behrends; her siblings, Bill Starnes, Kay Cole and Ila Laird; and her daughter Lisa Cole.
She is survived by: her children, Candy Sawalski, David Cole, John Cole, Michelle Hall (Jeff), Rich Behrends (Jessica) and Terry Behrends (Kristi); and her siblings, Rose Mary Melvin and Bud Starnes. She is also survived by six granddaughters; four grandsons; and three great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 14th 2026 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the United Methodist Church - Graettinger (102 S Cameron Ave, Graettinger, IA 51342). A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, October 14th 2026 at 2:00 PM at the same location.
