He was predeceased by : his parents, Ralph M. Pfeifer and Lucille M. Pfeifer (Scalise); his former life partner Becky Pfeifer (Sorensen); his siblings, Romaine Pfeifer, Jacky Meadors and Kathy Richou; and his grandson Luke Jones.

He is survived by : his fiancée Rosemary Higgins of Emmetsburg, Iowa; his children, John "J. P." Pfeifer of Greenville, Dana Pfeifer of West Columbia, Mark and Lindsey Jones; his granddaughters, Natalie, Jillian and Savannah of Emmetsburg; his children, Missy and Scott Thilges; his grandchildren, Sean, Molly and Mica of Algona; his children, Mikel and Megan Jones; his granddaughter Lucy of Emmetsburg, Iowa; and his siblings, Roger (Georgette Anglum), Alice (Joe Robertson) and Marian (Gary Patnode). He is also survived by many other relatives including cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
