He was predeceased by : his parents, Elmer Schmidt and Lorna Schmidt (Hemmingson); his son Joseph; and his brother Jim. He is survived by : his wife Shirley Zitterich (Burkard) of Emmetsburg, Iowa; his children, Vikki of Emmetsburg and Matthew (Carla) of Morton, Illinois; his grandson Joe (Danica); his great grandchild John of Payette; and his children, Rian and Broc of Morton, Illinois. He is also survived by many other relatives and friends.
