He is survived by : his spouse Portlind Albright; his children, Dylan Van Oosbree (Bong) of Carlisle, Tessa Simpson of Bondurant and Michael Van Oosbree of Bondurant; his grandchildren, Isabella, Grace, Truman, Harrison Van Oosbree, Abby, Ellie and Jay Simpson; and his siblings, Jim Van Oosbree (Deb) of Rochester, Mary Therese Morley of Omaha, John Van Oosbree (Jackie) of Emmetsburg, Jerry Van Oosbree (Judy) of Adams, Tom Van Oosbree (Jennifer) of Madison, Patricia Van Oosbree (Kathy) of Emmetsburg, Chris Van Oosbree of St. Louis, David Van Oosbree (Katie) of Emmetsburg, Mark Van Oosbree (Jeanne) of Maple Grove, Paul Van Oosbree (Vicky) of Independence and Cathy Twait (Kevin) of Manson, Iowa. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews; as well as many other relatives and friends.

Someone wrote a sympathy message

“First met Mike at Shrine Bowl where he introduced himself to me as we were going to be future teammates at UNI. Kind of lost contact for a while but started running into him again at some UNI functions. He remembered a lot of stories (mostly about me being an idiot) and always asked how my family was doing. He would talk about his kids and let me know how proud he was of them. He always had a positive attitude and was a great fighter! RIP Mike. Thankful for meeting Mike and being his teammate”
