She was predeceased by : her husband John Clark VanConant; her mother Dorothy Cowden; her stepparents, David Cowden and Carol Wessel; her son Glenn Herner Jr.; and her brother Roger Kiefer.
She is survived by : her father Gene Wessel; her daughters, Natasha Hickox, Monica VanConant and Cassandra Steuer; and her siblings, David Cowden, Phillip Cowden, Charles Cowden, Eugene Wessel, Angie Cowden, Crystal Johnson, Laura Cowden, Christine Ham and Robin Wessel.
She spent many years volunteering at Good News Foundation and Christmas Unlimited in Colorado Springs making sure that families had Christmas gifts under the tree and a friend to talk to.
