He was predeceased by : his parents, John Leonard and Bernette Leonard (Donahue); his sisters, Shirley Petersen and Jeanette Cooke; and his brother-in-law Ken Cooke.

He is survived by : his wife Susan Wood of Emmetsburg, Iowa; his children, Tom Leonard (Lisa) of Hinton, Lisa Studer (Scott) of Emmetsburg, Jason Leonard (Margaret) of Waverly and Gabe Leonard (Kelly) of Graettinger, Iowa; his grandchildren, Justine, Courtney, Morgan, Brendan, Justin, Stephanie, Brady, Payton, Reegan and Reese; his siblings, Pat Leonard (Joanne) of Colorado, Gary Leonard (Sandy) of Emmetsburg, Mike Leonard of Spencer, Iowa, Deb Rouse (Rick) of Emmetsburg and Annette Gilman (Rich) of Golden, Colorado; and his brother-in-law Delbert Petersen of Estherville, Iowa. He is also survived by many other relatives and friends.
