With sadness, we share the passing of Clair T. Hefel of Epworth, Iowa. Clair, born on April 1, 1939, passed away on October 29, 2026. Family and friends are welcome to send flowers or leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his mother Rosemary [Hefel] Beresford; his wife Marilyn Kuhl; his mother Catherine [Scott] Hall; his daughter-in-law Paula Hefel; his sister Patricia Taylor; his brothers-in-law, William Fritz and John [Dorothy] Grotkin; and his stepbrother Bob Coyle.
He is survived by: his children, Steve Hefel (Linda) of Epworth, IA, Mark Hefel (Rhonda) of Epworth, IA, Jeff Hefel of Epworth, IA, Dale Hefel (Diane) of Farley, IA and Mike Hefel; his close friend Lisa Atkins (Lynn Hefel); his sister Kay Hutchcroft of Shaumburg, IL; his sisters-in-law, Betty Fritz and Lavonne Coyle; and his friends, Duane and Marion Besler. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren.
A prayer was held on Tuesday, November 3rd 2026 at 2:30 PM at the Reiff Funeral Home (115 E Main St, Epworth, IA 52045). Visitation was held on Tuesday, November 3rd 2026 from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM and on Wednesday, November 4th 2026 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at the same location. A rosary was held on Tuesday, November 3rd 2026 at 7:00 PM. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Wednesday, November 4th 2026 at 10:30 AM at the St. Patrick's Catholic Church (102 1st St SE, Epworth, IA 52045).
