He is survived by: his wife Lois McDermott; his children, Michael Smith (Susan) of St. Charles, MN, Sara Brehm (Mike) of Peosta, IA, Marty Smith (Lori), Peter Smith (Rebecca) of Cascade, IA and Jenny Sandeen of Dyersville, IA; his siblings, Ray Smith of Plainfield, IN, Phyllis Astgen (Gary) of East Dubuque, IL, Kathy Link (Wally) of Dyersville, IA and Rita Benter of Dubuque, IA; and his in-laws, Darlene Sexton of Dubuque, IA, Bill Brown of Solon, IA, Donna Smith of Dubuque, IA, Dorrance McDermott (Verna) of Epworth, IA, Katie McDermott of Epworth, IA, Phyllis Goerdt (Darris) of North Liberty, IA and Julie Casey of Placid, IA..
A prayer will be held on Tuesday, July 22nd 2025 at 2:30 PM at the Reiff Funeral Home (115 E Main St, Epworth, IA 52045). Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 23rd 2025 at 12:00 PM at the same location. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, July 23rd 2025 at 1:30 PM at the St. Patrick's Catholic Church (102 1st St SE, Epworth, IA 52045).
