It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Joan Dawson (Estherville, Iowa), born in Mount Pleasant, Iowa, who passed away on April 7, 2024, at the age of 96, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by : her parents, Harold Leslie Eugene and Prudence Irene Tolander (Abrahamson); her former life partner Dr. Robert J. Dawson; her son William G. Dawson; her stepmother Ruth Tolander (Peterson); and her sisters, Donna Rae Zuk and Louise Elaine Unkrich.

She is survived by : her sons, Dr. Jerry D. Dawson (Bette) of Rochester, MN, Harold D. Dawson (Lizelle) of Peoria, AZ and Dr. Steven M. Dawson (Tia) of Kirkland, WA; and her brothers, William Tolander (Marjorie) and Wayne Tolander (Nancy). She is also survived by five grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, seven step-great-grandchildren.

Visitation was held on Saturday, April 27th 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Henry-Olson Funeral Home and Crematory (401 N 7th St, Estherville, IA 51334). A funeral service was held on Saturday, April 27th 2024 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
