He is survived by: his children, Joe Shafer (Judy) of Davenport, Marla Shafer of Montrose, Wayne Shafer (Michele) of Fairfield and Gail Shafer (Nancy) of Orcutt, California; and his grandchildren, Sarah Mills (Shawn), Joanna Willemkens (Joe), Rachel Springer (Nick), Jonathan Shafer (Paige), Kenyon, Simone, Halla Shafer, Timothy and Alexandra Shafer.
