Schmitt (Paisley) of Rickardsville; his wife Sharon Schmitt of Farley; his children, Dr. William Schmitt (Erika) of Independence, Scott Schmitt (Meghan) of Rochester, Danielle Schmitt (Chris Donnelly) of Independence and Mariah Schmitt (Lance Myers) of Waverly; his grandchildren, Oliver, Henrik, Clara, Lucille and Nathan Schmitt; his brothers, Kurt Schmitt (Joyce) of Rickardsville, Jeff Schmitt (Jana) of Middleton and Brian Schmitt (Anne) of Fox River Grove, Illinois; and his siblings-in-law, Mary Hoffman (Mike) of Epworth, IA, Robert Reiff (Mary), Mavonne Gansen (Tom) of Peosta, IA, Robin Ragen, Julie Simon (Pat) of Farley, IA, Bernard Reiff (Debra) of Farley, IA, Joseph Reiff (Peg), Bede Willenbring (Dan) of Farley, IA and Nola Nadermann (Charlie) of Manchester, IA. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Friday, October 23rd 2026 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Saturday, October 24th 2026 at 9:00 AM at the St. Joseph Catholic Church (202 2nd Ave SE, Farley, IA 52046). A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Saturday, October 24th 2026 at 10:30 AM at the same location.
