He is survived by: his mother Shirley Ellensohn (Kunkel); his wife Mary Reuter; his children, Aaron Ellensohn (Jessica) of Ames, IA, Kyle Ellensohn (Katrina) of Des Moines, IA, Todd Ellensohn (Lori) of Le Mars and Krista Ellensohn of Chicago, IL; and his grandchildren, Kreed Ellensohn, Hadley Ellensohn, Marcus Ellensohn, McKenna Ellensohn, Damien Ellensohn, Tristian Ellensohn, Briggs Ellensohn, Keane Riley, Brock Balik, Sienna Balik and Savanna Balik.

Visitation was held on Monday, May 26th 2025 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the All Saints Parish - St. Joseph (605 Plymouth St NE, Le Mars, IA 51031). A Mass of Christian burial was held on Tuesday, May 27th 2025 at 10:30 AM at the same location.
