He was predeceased by: his parents, Emery Schaefer and Caroline Schaefer (Smid); his parents-in-law, Orville and Gertie Buffington; his daughter Tara Brunsvold; and his brothers, Don, Elwyn and Roger Schaefer.
He is survived by: his significant other Iola "Ole" Schaefer (Buffington); his children, Brian Schaefer (Mindy), Scott Schaefer (Karla) and Jill Krull (Lynn); his son-in-law Bentley Brunsvold; his grandchildren, Nicholas Anderson (Lisa), Kelsey Asada (Dan), Garrett Schaefer (Stephanie) and Cody Schaefer (Lexi); and his great grandchildren, Taydem, Jayce and Ellyson Jo Schaefer. He is also survived by many in-laws, extended relatives, and numerous friends.
