He was predeceased by: his parents, Percy A. Howland and Esther Howland (Jensen); his parents-in-law, Arlene and Kenneth Peitersen; his sisters, Mavis Ann and Beverly Sue; and his siblings-in-law, Karen Chapman and Phil Lachelt.
He is survived by: his wife Barb Howland of Forest City; his stepsons, Alan Loerzel (Anita), Bruce Loerzel (Rose), Mike Loerzel (Laurie) and Christopher Loerzel; his sisters, Alice Roath (Gary) of Mason City and Eileen Butz of Clear Lake, IA; his nieces and nephews, Jeff Roath, Alan Vierkant (Kari), Sue Franklin (Ken) and Julie Rison (John); his siblings-in-law, Donna Lachelt, Walt Chapman, John and Sandy Peitersen; and his pets, Charlie and Callie. He is also survived by many great-nieces and nephews and a great-great niece and a great-great nephew.
