He is survived by: his wife Marilyn Kuennen of Luke's Catholic Church; his children, Ivan Nienhaus of Cedar Falls, IA, Kevin Nienhaus (Margie) of Lakewood, CO, Brian Nienhaus (Cindy) of Frederick, CO and Sharon Samec (Steve) of New Hampton, IA.; his grandchildren, Daniel Nienhaus (Katie), Michael Nienhaus, Angela Nienhaus, John Nienhaus, Laryn Fletcher (Noah), Matthew Samec (Katelyn), Dominic Samec (Carlie) and Joshua Samec; his great grandchildren, Zander Nienhaus, Noel, Leon Fletcher, Maggie, Bennett, Owen Samec, Mason, Natalie and Molly Samec; his in-laws, Darlys Rausch and Phyllis Kipp; his siblings, Ray Nienhaus, Carroll Nienhaus and Barb Dagit; his parents-in-law, Nick and Frances Kuennen; and his in-laws, Donald Rausch, Kenneth Kipp, Rose Ann Nienhaus, Delbert, Mary Ann Kuennen (Donald), Richard, Dolorita Kuennen, Bernard, Victoria Schmitt, Timothy Bodensteiner, Norma, Gary Wegner, Patrica Kuennen and Gaylord Kuennen.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 9th 2025 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM and on Friday, October 10th 2025 from 9:30 AM to 10:15 AM at the Helms Funeral Home - Chekal Chapel (201 Main St, Fort Atkinson, IA 52144). A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Friday, October 10th 2025 at 10:30 AM at the St. John's Catholic Church (201 Oak St, Fort Atkinson, IA 52144).
In lieu of flowers the family would like memorials made to St. John Catholic Church in Ft. Atkinson or any charity of your choice.
