With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Diane Pontius (Fort Dodge, Iowa), who passed away on February 2, 2026 at the age of 76. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

She was predeceased by: her parents, John Howell and Kathryn Howell (Beek); her daughter Tamara Johnson; her brother Micheal Howell; and her nephew John Howell.

She is survived by: her husband Carl Pontius; her son John Balsley (Janae); her stepsons, Brian Pontius (Kim) and Daniel Pontius; her son-in-law Collin Johnson; her grandchildren, Mark Balsley, Katie Balsley, Lauran Johnson and Eric Jonson (Ally); her great grandchildren, Lane Johnson, Oliver and Elisha Johnson; her stepgrandchildren, Logan Pontius, Lucas Pontius and Landon Pontius; her brother Mark Howell (Sherry); and her sisters-in-law, Mary Howell, Mary Butrick and Kathy Tepley. She is also survived by three aunts and two uncles; several nieces, nephews, grand nieces, grand nephews, and cousins; and many more family and friends.
