He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert Hewitt and Audry Hewitt (Sigler); his father-in-law George DeBakey (Marjorie); his stepmother Connie Hewitt; and his brother Jeff Hewitt.
He is survived by: his wife Julie Hewitt; his children, Christopher Hewitt (Julie) of Grimes, Corey Hewitt of Fort Dodge and Carly Johnson (David) of Van Meter, Iowa; his granddaughter Astrid Hewitt; his brothers, Monte Hewitt (DeAnn) of Fort Dodge and Mitch Hewitt (Laura) of Des Moines; and his brother-in-law George DeBakey. He is also survived by nephews, nieces, cousins, and many other extended family.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, September 19th 2026 from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the Gunderson Funeral Home & Cremation Services (615 N 15th St, Fort Dodge, IA 50501).
Memorials may be directed to the family for their discretion.
