He is survived by: his close friend Sheilah Gailey of Fort Dodge; his children, Traci Rivera (Eduardo) of San Diego, CA, Robert Scott Vander Maten of Fort Dodge and Jeff Vander Maten of Dallas, TX; his grandchildren, Jaci Sanchez, Ben Howell and Skyler Howell; his great grandchildren, Dagoh, Roman, Connor and Amelie; and his siblings, Larry Vander Maten of Longwood, FL, Jon Vander Maten of Pierre, SD, Judy Vander Maten of Cathlamet, WA. and Van Data Processing.
A celebration of life will be held on Thursday, October 23rd 2025 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Gunderson Funeral Chapel (615 N 15th St, Fort Dodge, IA 50501).
