He was predeceased by: his parents, William O. Franklin and Anna L. Franklin (Rapp); his son Jeremiah Franklin; his siblings, Robert Franklin, Kathy Wright, Susan Franklin, Ellie Beth Franklin and Johnny Franklin; and his half-brother Edward Franklin.

He is survived by: his daughters, Shannon Douglas (Brady) of Fort Dodge and Cassandra Franklin of Yelm, WA; his grandchildren, Owen, Jeremiah, Lyra and Paetyn; and his siblings, Steve Franklin (Sandy) of Illinois, Larry Franklin (Margaret) of Illinois, Evelyn Woolen (Bill) of Illinois, Penny Burrell of Illinois, Melissa Middleton of Illinois, James Franklin of Illinois and Arvil Franklin of Alabama.
