It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Michael G. Steffensmeier of Fort Madison, Iowa, who passed away on June 5, 2025, at the age of 63, leaving to mourn family and friends. As we bid farewell to this luminous soul, let his loved ones carry forward the torch of his memory, illuminating the path ahead with the warmth of his love and the brilliance of his spirit. Though Michael G. may journey beyond the horizon of our sight, his essence remains woven into the very fabric of our being — a guiding light in the darkness, a beacon of hope in the night.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Vernon K. Steffensmeier and Phyllis Steffensmeier (Schierbrock); his sister-in-law Jeanne; and his nephew Adam. He is survived by: his brother David Steffensmeier (Carrie) of Nauvoo, Illinois; his nieces, Holly Thompson (Jonathan), Kara Tweedy and Morgan Gonzalez; and his aunts, Betty Frey and Rita Steffensmeier. He is also survived by several great nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 10th 2025 from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM at the St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church (119 4th St, West Point, IA 52656). A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Tuesday, June 10th 2025 at 10:30 AM at the same location.
