It is with sadness that the passing of Wayne S. Groene of Fort Madison, Iowa is shared. Wayne, born on January 28, 1943, passed away on September 23, 2026. Family and friends are welcome to send flowers or leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Wilfred Groene and Jeanette Groene (Steffensmeier); and his wife Alice Jane Cowles. He is survived by: his children, Deborah Groene-Itri (Joseph) of Scituate, MA and Mark Groene (Kathy) of O'Fallon, MO; his grandchildren, Rachael and Ryan Groene; and his siblings, Wendell Groene (Nancy) of Ft. Madison, Wesley Groene (Linda) of Ft. Madison, Wilmer Groene (Sharon) of Ft. Madison, Walter Groene of Ft. Madison, Wilma Denning of Ft. Madison, Wilda Lampe (Mike) of Indianola and Wynette Emmett of Ft. Madison. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 8th 2026 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the King-Lynk Funeral Home & Crematory (3507 Avenue L, Fort Madison, IA 52627). A funeral service will be held on Friday, October 9th 2026 at 10:30 AM at the same location.
