He was predeceased by: his parents, Henry Schmudlach and Henrietta Schmudlach (Immermann); his close friend Irene Royek; and his brothers, Donald (Marion) and Jerry.
He is survived by: his sons, Rick (Donna), Randy (Sandy) and Ron (Deb); his grandchildren, Eric, Laura, Kelly, Adam, Amy and Emma; and his sister-in-law Betty Schmudlach. He is also survived by 9 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 8th 2026 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Hugeback-Johnson Funeral Home & Crematory (225 E Main St, Fredericksburg, IA 50630). A celebration of life will be held on Friday, October 9th 2026 at 1:00 PM at the Peace United Church of Christ. A burial will be held on Friday, October 9th 2026 at 3:00 PM at the Rose Hill Cemetery (699 N Jackson Ave, Fredericksburg, IA 50630).
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the family to support Peace United Church of Christ, Plum Creek Golf Course, and the Fredericksburg Fireman's Association in Roger's memory.
