He was predeceased by: his parents, Clarence Groven and Frances Groven (Brattrud); his former wife Marjorie Elaine Kanatas; his wife Lenora Roberts; his siblings, Rosecella, Anna, Thomas and Robert; and his stepson Charles Smith of Marjorie's.
He is survived by: his daughters, Lois Nelson (Phil Perry) of Northwood, Sherry Dolphin (Jeff) of Britt, Tammy Bain (Mike) of St. Joseph, MO, Linda Sanders (Troy Schwichtenberg) of Rochester, Patricia Groven of Manly and Karen Powers of Mason City; his grandchildren, Russ Engstler, Scott Engstler (Valerie), Lee Nelson (Misty), Thomas Smith, Dustin Schulz (Tara), Samantha Sanders, Nicholas Sanders, Alexandra Smallwood (Richard) and Savannah Moore; and his siblings, Carroll Groven (Sandra), Richard Groven, Gilbert Groven, Jerry Groven (Toni) and Clarice Naumann (Jim). He is also survived by 17 great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews.
