He was predeceased by: his parents, Hiram "Ginny" Ackerman and Muriel Ackerman (Long); his girlfriend Ruth Holcom; and his sisters, Delores Balzer and Linda Bunkofske.
He is survived by: his daughter Lisa Smith; his grandson Randall "Reese" Smith; his sister Roberta "Bobbie" Gifford (Don); and his brother-in-law David Bunkofske.
