He is survived by: his close friend Tally Albertson of Garner; his children, Jennifer Porter (Justin) of Winterset and Michael Gilbert of Albia; his grandchildren, Kelsey (Carson Whitley), Maddison Porter (Chanse Russell), Jake Porter, Luke Porter, Taylor Lackore, Lincoln Gilbert and Lucy Gilbert; his great grandchild Mila; and his siblings, Larry Gilbert (Pat) of Slater, Willie Gilbert (Beth) of Princeton, Rick Gilbert (Diane) of Garner and Jolene Howie of Garner. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 28th 2026 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Cataldo Funeral Chapel (160 E 4th St, Garner, IA 50438). A memorial service will be held on Thursday, October 29th 2026 from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM at the Garner United Methodist Church (885 Maben Ave, Garner, IA 50438).
