He was predeceased by : his parents, Dick Kalkwarf and Grace Kalkwarf (Pals); his wife Alberta Jean Dirksen of Alexander; his brother DuWayne; and his great grandchild Sydney Muff.

He is survived by : his children, Charlotte Hanson of Clear Lake, LuAnn Archer (Mark) of Littleton and Mike Kalkwarf (Maxine) of Garner; his grandchildren, Spencer Klooster (Cali) of Garner, Justin Klooster (Katrina) of Klemme, Hayley Muff (Andy) of Ventura, Katie Archer (Dayton) of Colorado, Meredith Quandt (Landon) of Crystal and Marty Kalkwarf of Ames; and his great grandchildren, Jordan, Logan Klooster, Carolina Klooster, Marrisa, Syndey, Leah, Ben, Ryan Muff, Rylie, Elliot and Beckett Quandt.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Hope Ministries in Des Moines.
