Monty C. Schlawin Obituary

It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Monty C. Schlawin of Garner, Iowa, who passed away on October 23, 2025, at the age of 78, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by: his parents, Glenn Schlawin and Kathleen Schlawin (Felland); his sisters-in-law, Julie Schlawin and Carla Stevenson; and his nephew Matthew Bird.

He is survived by: his wife Darcia Kooiman of Garner; his daughter Shannon Thill (Pam Marlowe) of Ankeny; his granddaughter Shelby Thill of Ankeny; his siblings, Greg Schlawin of Garner and Sherry Bird of Clear Lake; and his siblings-in-law, Ron Kooiman of Forest City and Audrey Kooiman of Forest City. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
