He was predeceased by: his parents, Heinz Buhr and Marianne Buhr (Harder); his wife Mary; his in-laws, Donald and Hazel Whitson; his sisters, Karon Klingman and Linda McClusky; his brother-in-law Lyle Klingman; his niece Jennifer Whitson; and his nephews, Daniel Flaugh and Kent Klingman.
He is survived by: his daughters, Susie Henkle (Alan), Stacie Buhr and Stephanie Van't Sant (Michael); his grandsons, Kyle Henkle (Emily), Eric Henkle, Ben Buhr, Ken Van't Sant and Carter Van't Sant; his sisters, Marleen Grimm (Michael) and Doreen Forbes (Daryl); and his siblings-in-law, David Whitson (Diana) and Kathryn Flaugh (James). He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 24th 2026 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Van Steenhuyse-Teahen Funeral Home (1212 1st Ave, Vinton, IA 52349). A funeral service will be held on Friday, September 25th 2026 at 10:00 AM at the St. Mark Lutheran Church (102 N Walnut Ave, Garrison, IA 52229).
