He was predeceased by: his parents, John B. Heyer and Ruth G. Heyer (Kellogg); his daughter Ashley Dawn Heyer; his brother Steven Heyer; and his parents-in-law, Donald and Gertrude Vander Ploeg.
He is survived by: his wife Ruth Heyer of George, Iowa; his son John Wesley (Alison); his grandchildren, Caetlyn, Abigail and Wesley Heyer of Discovery Bay, California.; his children, James, Leila and Grace; his siblings, Patricia Miller (Glen) of San Jose, Donald Heyer (Shelley) of Concord and Michael Heyer (Patricia) of Oakland, California; his sister-in-law Patricia Heyer (late Steven) of Spring Hill, Tennessee; Alex Birdsall and Dezirae Carrington (Fabian).
In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials be directed to the Tabernacle Baptist Church.
