With profound sadness, we say goodbye to David Ashby of Gilbert, Iowa, whose vibrant spirit touched the lives of many. David left this world on December 9, 2025 at the age of 86, leaving a void in the lives of so many people. He was predeceased by: his parents, David Ashby and Wanda Ashby (Holtmyer). He is survived by: his wife Ann Giltner of Gilbert; his children, Sue Walsh of Ames and Mark Ashby (Karla) of Boone; his grandchildren, Hannah Walsh of Minneapolis, Danielle Walsh of Ames, Alycia West of Ames, Michael Ashby (Heather) of Harrisburg and Logan Ashby (Jordan) of St. Cloud, Minnesota; his great grandchild Arabella "Bella"; and his sister Judith Ashby of Carbondale, Illinois. He is also survived by numerous extended family members and friends.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, December 14th 2025 from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Gilbert Lutheran Church (135 School St, Gilbert, IA 50105). A funeral service will be held on Sunday, December 14th 2025 at 4:00 PM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers and other customary remembrances, David's family suggests memorials be directed to the family and sent to their attention, c/o Grandon Funeral and Cremation Care, 414 Lincoln Way, Ames, Iowa, 50010.
