It is with great sadness that we announce the death of George Beenken of Gilbertville, Iowa, who passed away on October 14, 2025, at the age of 86, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, John Beenken and Leola Beenken (Krantz); his siblings, Jack Beenken and Donna; his brother-in-law Mike Petersen; and his grandson Nick Hagen.
He is survived by: his wife Marilyn Kacher; his children, Mike Beenken of Washburn, Linda Burcham of Hudson, Valerie Fritz of Greene and Dawn Hagen of Kansas City, Missouri; his grandchildren, Heather, Austin, Zachary Burcham, Ashleigh Hagen, Tylar and Hailee Beenken; his great grandchildren, Esmeralda, Ava, Jaxon, Cooper and Trinity; his sisters, Carol Petersen (Mike) and Betty Beenken (Scott Parker); and his siblings-in-law, Arlene Beenken and James Kacher (Diana). He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, October 17th 2025 at 4:00 PM at the Hagarty Waychoff Grarup Funeral Service (300 West Ridgeway Ave., Waterloo, IA 50701). Visitation will be held on Friday, October 17th 2025 from 4:30 PM to 7:00 PM at the Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service West Ridgeway (300 West Ridgeway Ave., Waterloo, IA 50701). A graveside service will be held on Saturday, October 18th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Mt. Olivet Cemetery (3912 W 4th St, Waterloo, IA 50701). A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, October 18th 2025 from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the Gilbertville American Legion.
