She was predeceased by: her parents, William Jr. Verhelst and Leona Verhelst (Andersen); and her siblings, Bill and Nancy. She is survived by: her husband Roger Dean Backer; her sons, Ben Backer (Jenny) and Joe Backer; her grandchildren, Haily of Greene, Carter of Greene and Cooper Backer of Greene; and her sisters, Christine Whipple and Mary Rasmusson. She is also survived by many cousins and nieces and nephews.
