She was predeceased by: her parents, Clifford Johnson and Irma Johnson; her husband Fred; her sister Joyce Anne; her aunt Carol (Tante); and her sister-in-law Margo Rogers.

She is survived by: her family Ross Fredrick; her sister Ellen Kay Gower (Walt); her brother-in-law Dwight Hawker; her children, Devin Hawker (Wendy), Kara Vander Wiel (Kurt) and Ross Hawker (Sarah); her grandchildren, Logan Vander Wiel (Lauren), Hannah Hawker (Bridger), Grace Hawker, Caleb Vander Wiel (Claire), Ethan Vander Wiel (Delaney), Lauren Hawker, Nathan Hawker and Kirsten Hawker; and her great grandchildren, Juniper Vander Wiel and Henry Vander Wiel. She is also survived by grandmother and great grandmother and all her family.

Memorials may be directed to St Peter Lutheran Church in Greene or to the family, who will direct them to other efforts important to Sylvia.
