With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Nita Kester of Greenfield, Iowa, who passed away on April 21, 2026 at the age of 101. Leave a sympathy message to the family on the memorial page of Nita Kester to pay them a last tribute.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Sam Thompson and Opal Thompson (Grandfield); her son Allen Downey; and her sisters, Dorothy, Betty and Marilyn.
She is survived by: her children, Tom Kester and Janet Downey Johnson; her brother Sam (Carol); and her children, Sheryl (Jim) and Ralph Jr. (Debbie). She is also survived by 9 grandchildren, many great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends.
Visitation was held on Friday, May 1st 2026 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Immanuel Lutheran Church (505 NE Dodge St, Greenfield, IA 50849). A funeral service was held on Friday, May 1st 2026 at 2:00 PM at the same location.
Memorials: Memorials may be made to the Nita Kester Memorial Fund to be established by the family at a later date.
